At night the demons I hide
come out to defy
To haunt and destroy..
Alone I lay awake in worry.
They play with my heart,
make it race and cry out.
Screw with my mind,
make me doubt every inch I feel inside.
Cover me in cold sweat.
Chills and feverish
until panic is all that's left.
"Run Run" they whisper
"You will never survive"
I struggle and fight to lock them back down inside.
Cover the taunts in locks and chains
bury them and
deny
deny
deny
-I am fine-

In the Mirror ..

I see my mother's beauty and strength.
I see my father's smart, kind blue eyes and stubborn jaw.
I see my dark thoughts and black circles beneath my eyes.
I see the stress behind a worried, crinkled brow.
I see the smile my mother gave, that was there, despite the tears that never fall.
I see my fathers wisdom and great ability to always hold the weight of the world on his shoulders.
I see the weight on mine.
I see the silent regret and worry held back.
I see my parents love and my sisters support.
I see my own self disappointment.
I see that woman in the reflection looking straight through me.
